A Legacy of Service: Rock Solid Enterprises at the Ottawa Fire Monument

At the Ottawa Firefighters Community Foundation, we are deeply committed to honoring the memories of our fallen heroes and enhancing the sites that commemorate their bravery. One significant contribution to our monument site came from Rock Solid Enterprises, led by the Currie Brothers, whose family legacy is deeply intertwined with the Ottawa Fire Department.

Rock Solid Enterprises: Building for a Cause

In 2014, Rock Solid Enterprises, helmed by the Currie Brothers, was awarded the contract to install interlock and a wrought-iron fence atop a stone wall at the Ottawa Fire Monument site. Their work was not just a professional undertaking but a personal mission to honor their father’s memory and the legacy of service within their family.

Honoring District Chief Ken Currie

The Currie Brothers’ father, District Chief Ken Currie, was a respected member of the Ottawa Fire Department. His dedication to serving and protecting the community was unwavering until his tragic death in the line of duty in 2000. Ken Currie’s sacrifice is remembered and honored through the work his sons have done at the monument site.

Craftsmanship and Dedication

The installation of the interlock and wrought-iron fence by Rock Solid Enterprises exemplifies craftsmanship and dedication. The robust interlock pathways and the elegant yet sturdy wrought-iron fence not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the monument site but also ensure its durability and safety for visitors. This meticulous work stands as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of our fallen firefighters, including District Chief Ken Currie.

A Place of Reflection and Respect

The enhancements made by Rock Solid Enterprises have transformed the monument site into a place of reflection and respect. Visitors can now walk along the beautifully installed pathways and appreciate the significance of the monument within the safety provided by the new fence. This site continues to serve as a poignant reminder of the bravery of Ottawa’s firefighters and the ultimate sacrifices made by heroes like Ken Currie.

A Family’s Continuing Legacy

The Currie Brothers’ contribution to the Ottawa Fire Monument site is a testament to their commitment to honoring their father’s legacy and supporting the firefighting community. Their work ensures that the memories of those who have fallen in the line of duty are preserved and respected by all who visit the monument.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rock Solid Enterprises and the Currie Brothers for their exceptional work and dedication. Their contributions have significantly enhanced the monument site, ensuring it remains a fitting tribute to our brave firefighters.
